Creating a home from scratch can be a lot of fun, but it can also be overwhelming. A recent client was faced with that exact dilemma. He was moving from a single-family home in the suburbs to a 4-bedroom high-rise rental in Chicago’s Loop. With an exceedingly busy work schedule and two teenaged daughters, he contacted A. Gentry Interiors to manage and oversee the workload.

Because this unit was a rental, there were certain parameters that had to be observed. The windows and floors were off limits, so we had to make the best of what was there. Secondly, we had to keep his future home in mind when specifying sizes for rugs and furniture. Entertaining family and friends was a priority. AGI met all the objectives. We were able to abide by the guidelines of the building, create a comfortable space for his family, but also one for entertaining. The design and furniture selection were transferable – when he moved to his permanent residence, he was able to install everything immediately.

Art was also one of his passions, and with his oldest daughter being an artist, we had a great selection of art that we augmented and complemented. We created the perfect balance in each room, blending the luxurious fabrics and striking furniture silhouettes, with a variety of classic and contemporary paintings and sculptures. Now his home emphasizes his sophisticated taste and elevated lifestyle, while still offering the charm that makes guests feel comfortable when they walk through the door.
